CCNA Campaign: Interested in Carrier Networking, Only For The Network - Network Introduction [Campaign-2]

What is the network?

When a computer is connected to one or more computers, it is called a network. Minimum two computers are needed to be networked.

Types of networks:

Networks can usually be divided into three categories.

1.LAN
2.MAN
3.WAN

Local Area Network (LAN): Local Area Network is a network of computers located in the same building. This network's data transfer speed is 10 Mbps. The devices used in this network are Repeaters, Hub, Network Interfaces etc.

Metropolitan Area Network (MAN): The interconnected interfaces of a few lanes within the same city are called metropolitan area networks. This type of network can extend up to 50-75 miles. This network's data transfer speed is Gigabit cross seconds. The devices used in this type of network are router, switches, microwave antennas etc.

WAN (Wide Area Network):
The network built on remote LANs is called Wide Area Network. Data transfer speeds of this type of network are 56 KBps to 1.544 Mbps. The speed of the wans is slowly changing. The devices used in this type of network are router, modem, wine switches etc.

Topology:

Toplogy is the catalog of how a computer is connected to a network. Topology plays an important role in network design. Topology can be of different types, such as bus topology, star topology, ring topology, mesopupology etc. Below are the different topologies:

Network Cable:

The cable used to send data from one computer to another computer is called a network cable.

Different types of cable are used for networking. Such as:

1.Coaxial Cable
2.Twisted pair cable
3.Fiber Optic Cable
4.Patch cable
5.Internet CrossWare Cable

Coaxial Cable:
Coaxial cable is used on local area network. Coaxial cables are of different types. For example, 50 ohms (RG-8, RG-11 ARG-58), 75 Ohm (RG-59) and 93-Ohm (RG-62). The price of the cable is very low. There is a problem with EMI being made of copper.

Twisted pair cable:
Twisted pair cable has two tears.

1.Shielded twisted pair cable

2.Unshielded twisted pair cable

Shielded twisted pair cable:
Shielded twisted pair cables have a pair of tweezers, one in a tight assortment. As a result, there is a lot of electric interference. The data transfer speed of this cable is 500 Mbps.

Unshielded twisted pair cable:
Unshielded twisted pair has no additional shields outside the pair, except that there is a plastic jacket outside. The data transfer rate of this cable is 16MBps.

Fiber Optic Cable:
This cable is used as a glass media than copper wire. As a result there is no electro magnetic interference. This cable has a lot of data transmission speed. There are two types of fiber optic cable. Single mode fiber and multimode fiber The main disadvantage is that the price is too high and it is difficult to install.

Repeat:
Repeat is a device used to amplify signals. Before you cross the 185 meter distance, you can use the same repeater to amplify the signal, it can exceed 185 meters. It works on the OSI model's physical layer.

Hub:
The hub is a multi-port reporter. It works with electric signals. There is no headache on the network address or the network adapter's Mac ads. It also works on the OSI model's physical layer.

The bridge:
Bridge is a device that connects multiple network segments. It creates bridging tables for each segment to count different devices. It works on the OSI model's Datellex Layer.

Swiss:
The swiss is a bridge with multiple ports. It stores the list of each node's Mac address. It works on the OSI model's Datellex Layer.

Router:
Routing is the process of sending data from one network to another network. And the router is the device used for routing. It works on the OSI model's network layer.

Gateway:
Gateway is the device used to connect different types of networks. It's a protocol to translate. It works on OSI model's 7 Layer.
